I looked for opportunities to redesign the user experience of the mobile app for L.A Fitness. I also worked
on mockups, prototypes, and style guides to demonstrate the growth
in my UI skills.

A need for capturing that fitness is a lifestyle

Mapping the current
experience on the app

Core theme: Vitality and Power
Active use of bright colors to instill excitement and motivation to take care of oneself and stay consistent.
Represents energy and healthy living which can come from various forms of training that LA fitness provides through specialized classes.

Reimagined fitness
experience
During my research, I discovered that
LA Fitness' business goals don't support
a massive UI rehaul.
So I pivoted to reimagining the class booking fitness experience on a mobile app with LAFitness only as a distant basis for a foundation.

Reflections & Takeaways
Significance of design systems and scalable designs
I enjoyed pushing my visual thinking in this project. As a solo designer, it was interesting
to balance visual experimentation vs consistency across components. I found myself questioning my design decisions based on user needs and scalability for those building interfaces.
Redesigning without a business lens and product strategy is pointless.
As this was a conceptual product, early on in
my research of LA Fitness' business value proposition, I discovered that a 100% UI rehaul would not align with their business goals. I let go of LA Fitness however continued working on it for self-exploration with the help of findings from qualitative interviews.
